Need Bacon with Your Vegan Waffle? Just Make a Daiya Vegan Bacon Patty

vegan Daiya bacon for your vegan waffleJust as most humans don’t crave flesh in its natural state as carnivores do, I never craved raw bacon. However, I did used to eat my share of it because the cooking process chemically transformed it into something that excited my taste buds. A waffle or pancake just didn’t seem complete without a side of bacon or sausage, and I also loved BLTs.

Of course, this was not great for the arteries, and not kind to the pigs, either. Nonetheless, there are a few flavors that for better or worse, simply don’t have a plant-based equivalent. Bacon seems to be one of them. This is why vegans hear so many bacon jokes. The thought of a bacon-free lifestyle may simply seem unimaginable to some.

All right, so I’m not as “ripped” as serious vegan bodybuilders. I accept that. However, I still keep myself in decent shape by running and pumping iron regularly. Oh, and there’s that plant-based diet thing.

The Global Vegan Waffle Party recognizes the links between kindness, health, and ecological sustainability, all of which vegan practices help to address. Makes the equivalent of 4 (7-inch) round Belgian waffles.

If there were a way to make bananas foster in a waffle iron, this would be getting pretty close. Be My Global Vegan Neighbor: Inspiration from Mister Rogers & Others

Over the last few months, I’ve been wrestling with the identity of the Global Vegan Waffle Party. At points, I allowed myself to become drawn into just wanting it to be more popular, but now a primary goal is to make sure it continues to have a meaningful and relevant message. Nonetheless, I found myself considering a few things about him as the birds chirped around me: he was vegetarian; he obviously emphasized the importance of being a good neighbor; and he reached both kids and grownups through his actions, which expressed important values.
